בודהיזם ופסיכותרפיה: דיווחי מטפלים מישראל

 

כבר בתחילת המאה הקודמת, וויליאם ג'יימס, מאבות הפסיכולוגיה המודרנית, חזה שתוך 25 שנים כל הפסיכולוגים ילמדו פסיכולוגיה בודהיסטית. חזונו אמנם לא התממש, אך במרוצת השנים ובמיוחד בעשורים האחרונים פסיכולוגים ואנשי מקצוע רבים מגלים עניין בבודהיזם ובתרומתו לעבודתם הטיפולית. למעשה, ספרות רבה נכתבה בתחום הדיאלוג בין הבודהיזם והפסיכותרפיה אך רובה לא היה מחקרי. מתוכם, מעט מאוד מחקרים נערכו עם אוכלוסיית המטפלים שנחשפו לבודהיזם באופן משמעותי, ועד כה לא בוצע אף מחקר כזה בישראל למרות מיקומה הגבוה בין המדינות הפעילות בתחום.

המחקר הנוכחי כלל 30 מטפלים מישראל שנחשפו לבודהיזם באופן משמעותי, 21 פסיכולוגים מומחים ו 9 עובדים סוציאליים מוסמכים. הוא כלל שתי קבוצות מחקר: 15 משתתפים עם רמת מחויבות גבוהה לבודהיזם - מתרגלים מדיטציה בזמן מצטבר של לפחות 100 דקות שבועיות או ידועים בקהילה המקצועית כמומחים בתחום, ו 15 משתתפים עם רמת מחויבות בינונית לבודהיזם - נחשפו לבודהיזם באופן משמעותי ומתרגלים פחות מזמן מצטבר של 100 דקות שבועיות. כל משתתף עבר ראיון חצי מובנה שנמשך כשעה ושנבנה במיוחד עבור המחקר יחד עם חוקרים מומחים בפסיכולוגיה ובבודהיזם. הראיונות הוקלטו, תומללו ועברו ניתוח תוכן.

ניתוח התוכן כלל איסוף נתונים אודות המאפיינים המקצועיים של משתתפי המחקר ואודות הנושאים הבאים: תהליך חשיפת המשתתפים לבודהיזם, ייחוסים כלליים שלהם אודות הבודהיזם, עקרונות בודהיסטים שהם ציינו כבעלי ערך בפסיכותרפיה, השפעות קליניות של הבודהיזם על עבודתם הטיפולית והשפעות אחרות שהם ייחסו לבודהיזם. לאחר איסוף הנתונים וניתוח התוכן בוצעו שלושה סוגים של ניתוח סטטיסטי: ניתוח תיאורי, ניתוח השוואתי (השוואות בין קבוצות המחקר והשוואות על בסיס מאפיינים דמוגראפיים ומקצועיים) וניתוח גורמים.

בהתבסס על הממצאים התיאוריים הורכב פרופיל המטפל הישראלי "הממוצע" המחויב לבודהיזם. חשיפתו של מטפל זה לבודהיזם הייתה בהקשר אישי ולא מקצועי, הוא מייחס לבודהיזם ערך בכך שעיסוקו הוא מעבר לאינדיבידואל ובכך שהוא מהווה אורח חיים אפשרי או גישה בעלת אלמנט יומיומי. הוא מעריך את עקרונות ההיצמדות, החמלה, ההשתנות המתמדת וה Equanimity כבעלי ערך בפסיכותרפיה, הוא מקיים פרקטיקה "ברוח בודהיסטית" עם מטופלים בזמן טיפול, החשיבה הבודהיסטית עוברת דרך נוכחותו אל המטופל והוא לעיתים מזכיר מושגים בודהיסטים במהלך טיפול. בנוסף, הוא מעריך את הבודהיזם כמאפשר רוגע, שקט נפשי או הרפיה, כמאפשר נוכחות עם תשומת לב ערה ב"כאן ועכשיו" וכמסייע בקבלת המציאות כפי שהיא או בקבלת האדם עם מגבלותיו.

בהשוואות בין קבוצות המחקר נמצא, לדוגמא, שהמשתתפים עם רמת המחויבות הגבוהה לבודהיזם ציינו יותר את עקרון הריקות כבעל ערך בפסיכותרפיה מאשר המשתתפים עם רמת המחויבות הבינונית ובהשוואות שבוצעו על בסיס המאפיינים הדמוגראפיים והמקצועיים נמצא, לדוגמא, שהמשתתפים שהם פסיכולוגים קליניים ציינו יותר מהמשתתפים שאינם פסיכולוגים קליניים, שהבודהיזם כולל התייחסות להיבטים מטפיזיים, אקזיסטנציאליסטים או רוחניים.

בניתוח הגורמים נמצאו שני גורמים: הגורם 'עיסוק בנסיבות החשיפה ובערך המוסף', הקשור לתכנים המאפיינים שלבים מוקדמים בחשיפה לבודהיזם והגורם 'שילוב הבודהיזם בסיטואציה הטיפולית ובחיי היומיום', הקשור לתכנים המאפיינים שלבים מתקדמים בחשיפה. נמצא, לדוגמא, שהעיסוק בגורם 'שילוב הבודהיזם בסיטואציה הטיפולית ובחיי היומיום' היה נמוך יותר בקרב המשתתפים, שהגדירו עצמם עם גישה דינאמית מאשר בקרב המשתתפים שלא הגדירו עצמם כך.

מסקנות המחקר היו: 1. בישראל מתקיימת "פסיכותרפיה ברוח בודהיסטית" על ידי אנשי מקצוע, שחשיפתם לבודהיזם הייתה בהקשר אישי. 2. הבודהיזם עשוי להוות תשתית תיאורטית נוספת או מקבילה לפסיכותרפיה המערבית דרך ארבעה עקרונות בודהיסטים מרכזיים. 3. אנשי מקצוע בישראל תופסים את השפעת הבודהיזם בדומה להשפעת התהליך המתחולל בפסיכותרפיה, כלומר כמאפשר שינוי פנימי או התפתחות פנימית. 4. הבודהיזם עשוי להרחיב באופן משמעותי את גבולות הפסיכותרפיה.

המחקר הנוכחי שיקף במידה רבה את עולמם האישי והמקצועי של מטפלים מישראל, שנחשפו לבודהיזם באופן משמעותי. נראה שחשיפה זו השפיעה באופן ניכר על חייהם האישיים והמקצועיים כאחד ושהשפעה זו הייתה בדרך כלל קשורה בקשר של השלמה להכשרתם ועבודתם בפסיכותרפיה. חשיבותו המרכזית של המחקר הינה בהרחבתו המדעית את התשתית התיאורטית והפרקטית, הנבנית עתה על ידי הדיאלוג בין הבודהיזם לבין הפסיכותרפיה.

נשמע מעניין. אבל תקציר כתקציר..  בעיקר מסמן תחומי עיסוק.  אולי אתה יכול לצרף חלקים נוספים מהעבודה שלך?  אני מניחה שלפחות חלקים מפרקי המבוא, והמסקנות - או דיון, יהיו מעניינים גם לקורא מבחוץ.
