Nurit Yirmiya is a Professor of Education and Psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She holds the Artery Chair of Personality Studies and is the director of the Levin Center for the Study of Typical and Atypical Development. Trained in UCLA as a clinical and developmental psychologist she has been studying and working with children with ASD and their families for 25 years. She is an author of many papers in the field, and a member of the "Baby Sibling Research Consortium". Last year she edited a special issue for the "Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders" on "The Very Early Phenotype of Autism" and is a joint editor of the "Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry.

Colwyn Trevarthen, is a professor (Emeritus) of Child Psychology and Psychobiology at The University of Edinburgh, where he has taught since 1971. His work of the 1980s on mother-infant interactions was pioneering and his published work covers brain development, infant communication, child learning, and emotional health. His current research concerns how rhythms and expressions of 'musicality' in movement help communication with children and aid their development and learning. He is the Vice-President of the British Association for Early Childhood Education.

Laurent Danon-Boileau is a professor in General linguistics and language, at Sorbonne University Paris. He is also a psychoanalyst. He works with children between four and seven years old who do not speak and whose pathology ranges from autism and infantile psychosis to congenital aphasia. He is particularly attentive to two different dimensions of language and communication that are often considered to be mutually exclusive: language and communication as a psychic and poetic creation, and language and communication as a brain processed activity. He has widely published in linguistics, psychoanalysis and language and communication acquisition and pathology.
